I would also tour the city at night and look for Christmas Lights. I would drive through River Oaks, Highland Village on Westheimer and, in Northwest Houston, Prestonwood Forest.
If we have more time, and my guests were up for some walking and an urban adventure, I would take them on a little scavenger hunt from Hermann Park to Downtown. I would write down things for the kids to find and have us take the METRORail from the park to Main Street Square. Find some examples HERE.
If we were sitting around the house and suddenly decided to squeeze in a little Houston fun, I would take my guests to Discovery Green or Hermann Park. These public parks are free and have a lot to do. You could go every day for a week, and still find new corners to explore.
