Things to do in Houston today, and this weekend, with kids! December 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 2018

Plan your weekend in Houston, with kids!

Head downtown to City Hall for the Gingerbread Build Off!  This is a free, family-friendly holiday event with an epic, edible battle among dozens of teams, using entirely consumable building materials.  Kids are invited to create their own mini gingerbread houses in the Kid’s Construction Zone, where gingerbread supplies and candies are provided at no cost on a first-come, first served basis.

Skate outside at Discovery Green… and Skate with Santa on Saturday.  You’re probably not surprised to learn that the man in red is a pretty good ice skater.

Go out after dark to see the Zoo Lights at the Houston Zoo, Magical Winter Lights at Gulf Greyhound Park, Lights in the Heights at  Woodland Heights or Sugar Land Holiday Lights at Constellation Field.

Or go to Mr. Popper’s Penguins at Main Street Theater at MATCH.  This performance is meant for families!
