GREENSTREET GRAFFITI – June 3 – June 6, 2013

James And GONZO247BigKidSmallCity has long had a crush on Downtown Houston.  We like riding METRORail, exploring the miles of pedestrian tunnels, looking out from the JP Morgan Chase Tower Observation Deck, strolling along the bayou trail and pushing that mysterious red button the the Preston Street Bridge.  We also like that Downtown Houston is becoming cooler every day.

First came the giant “Houston is Inspired” mural next to Market Square Park.  Now, GreenStreet, formerly known as Houston Pavilions, is getting a bright new make over.

Beginning on Monday, June 3,  graffiti artists will remake GreenStreet into a vibrant explosion of colors and graphic art. You are invited to watch each artist’s progress throughout the week. As the finishing touches are applied on Thursday, June 6 from 5–8PM, there will be entertainment and a DJ in the outdoor plaza between Fannin & San Jacinto.

Mother’s Day at GreenStreet in Downtown Houston

greenstreetDo you remember the old Houston Pavilions on Main Street in Downtown Houston?  Well it has a whole new image and is now called GreenStreet.  And they want you and Mom to check it out this weekend!

GreenStreet is a Class-A mixed-use development that includes the fully occupied, 11-story regional headquarters for NRG Energy, Inc., one of the largest power generating companies in the country, along with restaurants, retailers and venues including the House of Blues, Forever 21, III Forks, McCormick & Schmick’s and Lucky Strike.

Below are the suggestions from GreenStreet… but my personal request is for my kids to take me to Lucky Strike this weekend!

For an unforgettable dining experience, be sure to grab a seat inside House of Blues (located on the east-wing of GreenStreet at 1204 Caroline Street) on Sunday, May 12 as Grammy Award-winner Kirk Franklin joins forces with the concert venue to produce Gospel Brunch, a legendary dining and live music show complete with explosive high-energy performers, contemporary music and a plethora of southern cuisine. The all-you-can-eat Gospel Brunch menu features favorites such as cornbread muffins with maple butter, Creole chicken and shrimp jambalaya, chicken and waffles, carving stations, plus a create-your-own Bloody Mary and mimosa bar. Doors open at 11:30 a.m., but space is limited. To guarantee a spot at one of the hottest events this Mother’s Day weekend, be sure to purchase tickets by visiting

Another popular GreenStreet dining spot for Moms is III Forks Steakhouse.
