Uberrito – Our Search for Houston’s Best Restaurants for Kids

Uberritto Patio and Playground
Location: 2245 W. Alabama Houston, TX 77098
Age Appropriate: All ages
Price: $

Hi, I’m Juliette! My husband, my 7-year-old and I love going out to eat and we are sharing our restaurant finds with you.

Driving around town, I am sure you have noticed that there is a new name in familiar places: the Mission Burrito restaurants have a new name: Uberrito. We went to investigate our favorite location on West Alabama to see if they were still kid-friendly and if they still served delicious and fresh Mexican fare.

I have to say that they have not changed much…if anything at all! I can’t claim to remember the old menu perfectly but the new one seems awfully familiar! The décor is casual with heavy wooden tables and a shaded patio that many families have enjoyed over the years.

I remember taking my son when he was 2 or 3 and meet with friends and the children would play on their slide. I have to say that they are updating the play structure so it looks only half done on the pictures. Also, my son told me he was too old to play on it now (one of these comments that remind me that he is growing up faster than I think!) Their bathroom is very large and clean.  (As a rule, I am only commenting on the woman bathroom.)

Mission Burritos Valentine’s Day Special – Love Stinks, So Get Yourself a $6 Burrito & Drink

On February 14 only, you can get yourself a $6.00 burrito and soft drink.  If you come between 3:00 and 6:00pm, you can also get yourself a 99¢ margarita or beer!

Mission Burritos happens to be one of our very favorite restaurants and the location on West Alabama has a playground for the kids.

My one question about the place… is it Mission Burrito or Mission Burrito”s”?  I guess I’ll need to go figure that out tomorrow.  With a $6 special and a margarita.

Mission Burritos – 99¢ Margaritas at Happy Hour – 3:00-6:00pm Daily

You may know I have a crush on Mission Burritos.  The location on West Alabama has a playground and great food.  Well, after my discovery tonight, I am madly in love with Mission Burritos.

Everyday, they have happy hour from 3:00-6:00pm and margaritas are now only 99¢.  And they are the same size as when they cost $3.50 at happy hour!

The one catch is that happy hour is only to 6:00pm and not 7:00pm (like it used to be) but drinks are now 99¢!

The only thing better than a 99¢ margarita and a playground would be 99¢ margaritas, a babysitter and a designated driver.  Still, I’ll take my one margarita and playground fun any night of the week!

Mission Burritos Happy Hour – 3:00pm to 7:00pm – What’s better than drinks and a play place?

Mission Burritos has daily “elated hours” from 3:00 to 7:00.  Lone Star is $1.50, other beer is $2.50, a margarita is $3.50 and chips and queso is $3.50.  The location on West Alabama has a playground for kids and a free chips and salsa bar.

Sick of eating macaroni and cheese with the kids?  Head to Mission Burritos for a burrito, margarita and kids meal.  Enjoy the drink while the kids play.

Just remember you do have to drive home and care for those kids after your drinks!

Our Review:   We love Mission Burritos. The one at 2245 West Alabama has a great outdoor playground that is mostly shaded.

You order at the counter and the food is prepared quickly while you wait. You can then sit inside or outside at the playground. There are a lot of kid’s meal options (burrito, taco, chicken nuggets, nachos, quesadillas) for $4.50-$5.00. All come with a drink and teddy grahams.

My kids always get the burrito, mostly because I like to eat their leftovers and I haven’t told them about the other options. I usually get the Veggie burrito for $5.95 and either share it or take half home. It’s big.

There is a free rewards program and I frequently earn free burritos or chips and guacamole.  Parking can be tricky at peak hours, so we try to go a little early or late.   Still, even at 12:00 on a Saturday, once we are parked, we’re always happy to be there.
