Is La Fendee Closing? Is Tacos A Go Go Moving In? NO!!

La Fendee Owners Fakhry and BahamomOne of my very favorite Houston restaurants is La Fendee.  They are located on the Westheimer curve in Montrose and have a nice covered patio and nice indoor space.  I’ve eaten nearly a hundred Samplers with humus, falafel, tahluli salad, greek salad and pita bread.

I was shocked to see a news story saying that La Fendee was closing and was being replaced by Tacos A Go Go.  Determined to eat La Fendee every day until the restaurant disappeared, I headed out to Westheimer.

La Fendee SignHere I learned that I will be eating delicious Mediterranean food in Montrose for a long time.  According to the owners, Fakhry and Bahamom, they are NOT CLOSING!  La Fendee has a signed 10 year lease and plans to stick around for a long time.

Why the rumor that they were closing?  Apparently the lease was being negotiated and someone, somewhere, screwed up.  Changes were announced before it was final, and bad information was shared.

The good news is that La Fendee will stay open.  The bad news is that people think it is closing and business has slowed down.  So tell your friends the real story and go get some Mediterranean food at La Fendee.  Tell them that sent you!

Our La Fendee Grill Groupon Report

Remember the Groupon I posted HERE about the La Fendee Groupon? I always wonder if these online daily deals are just too good to be true.  That said, I purchased the $20 voucher for $10 and used it this week.  I am happy to report that, as always, it worked with now issues at all.

We ordered the THE CHEF’S SAMPLER $12.99, FALAFEL $4.50 and ICE TEA $1.99. Only of us were eating and we had a box full of left overs. Out of pocket we just paid tax and tip. The GROUPON cost my $10, so in total, we spent about $15.

The restaurant staff was very friendly and did not have any problem ringing up the order with the GROUPON.  More than this, the staff, as always, was very good with my kids. They brought over a high chair right away and even brought over some small toys for Joe and Brooke to play with. And, as always, James slept through the entire thing.

Keep watching for good GROUPONS. They really do work.

Our Review:   La Fendee has been a favortie of mine since I was expecting my olded son and was set on Greek food.  Fortunately, my kid’s are adventurous eaters and the restaurant is casual enough for me to bring them along.   We always order the Chef’s Sampler for $12.99. The plate with hummus, baba ghanooj, tabbouleh, greek salad, stuffed grape level, falafel, beef and chicken is enough to feed four of us.   If we are extra hungy, we order a side of falafel.

The patio is on Westheimer and is a little loud, but the noise helps to cancel out the noise from my kids.   The restaurant and the patio are both casual enough where a few crumbs are not a big deal.
