Watch the trains go by at Chick-Fil-A Express in the Hermann Park/Medical Center

Metrorail train at Memorial Hermann Houston Zoo Station
Address: 6410 Fannin St, Houston, TX 77030 (Memorial Hermann/Houston Zoo MetroRail Stop)

Okay, okay, okay… I’m writing about Chick-Fil-A and everyone knows about Chick-Fil-A.  And to make it worse, I’m writing about Chick-Fil-A Express which doesn’t have the full menu.

But, the thing about this Chick-Fil-A Express is that it has a patio facing the train tracks and it is next to Hermann Park.

Chick Fil A Express Memorial Hermann Station on METRORail
On a weekday, we parked at Hermann Park and played all morning.  At lunch time, we jumped on the METRORail at the Hermann Park/Rice Station and jumped off one station south, the Houston Zoo/Memorial Hermann Station.

This Chick-Fil-A is very simple with just a few tables inside and out.  The menu is also smaller than usual (with no kids meals and no fries) because there are no ovens… just food delivered from another Chick-Fil-A location.

Still, we were able to order the Chick-Fil-A sandwich and nuggets.  Also, the drinks are bottled… so we bought a gallon of iced tea for $5 and shared it (and took the extra home on the train).

We grabbed one of the small patio tables and watched trains go by as we ate our lunch. And for us, trains are really all you need for a good time.

When we finished, we took METRORail back to Hermann Park/Rice.

Chick Fil A Express Menu
If you go, remember that it is small with a limited menu and limited hours (see the pictures above)… but there are public restrooms, good food and trains to watch!

Chick-Fil-A Customer Service & Walking in the Rain

For James’s birthday, he told me he wanted to go to Chick-Fil-A.  (Okay, okay, his mom survived his first year and she wanted to go to Chick-Fil-A.)

I am consistently impressed by Chick-Fil-A’s customer service and the courteous staff.  I never grow tired of the employees saying, “My pleasure”, when I say, “Thank you”.  And I think it is awesome that they walk over to the play area and offer to refill my drink while I watch my kids.

Today we were at the location at Kirby and 59.  While inside, it began to pour.  Can you believe that a Chick-Fil-A employee got out the umbrella and was escorting patrons to and from their cars?

Well done Chick-Fil-A!

Free ChickFilA Today! Go for Dinner!

Today is Cow Appreciation Day and there is still time to get a free meal at ChickFilA!  If you dress in any cow costume, you will get a free meal.  If you wear a cow accessory (like a hat or scarf), you will get a free entree.

We made a quick costume today and got 3 completely free meals (chicken, fries and a drink).  Our ChickFilA even offered a free salad to my little vegetarian.

Tape or draw on some spots and head to ChickFilA for dinner!  Costumes can be simple… we took old white shirts and drew on black spots with markers, we taped paper ears on headbands and drew spots on faces with eye liner.  Lots of people were dressed up this afternoon, and those that were not wished that they were.

Go HERE for details.  No need to RSVP… just show up in costume!

Reserve Your Free Breakfast at Chick-Fil-A

Head over HERE to reserve your free breakfast at ChickFilA. You will need to make the reservation now (before they are gone) but you will pick up your breakfast between September 6 and 10.   The website was down for a bit, but looks to be back up and running.  I reserved the breakfast burrito!

I do love Chick-Fil-A.   I did not grow up with one, so I’ve been making up for that for the last 10 years.   I love the food, I love the clean play area, I love that they come to your table and ask to refill your drink and I love that when you say “thank you”, they say “my pleasure”.   I also like that with the kid’s meal, you can trade the toy in for a free ice cream cone. My kids love the ice cream, I love that I don’t have more clutter around my house.

Speaking of clutter clean up, the Chick-Fil-A at 59 and Kirby is still taking school supply donations. The kids and I loaded up our free Office Depot backpack with all the penny supplies we’ve been collecting from the office supply stores, and took it over. My son was very pleased to be helping out other kids.

As a bonus, the kids got to play at the play place while I sipped on my iced tea (free with the coupon in the holiday calendar purchases last year).  And of course, the employees were very polite and refilled my drink, at my table, 12 times while saying “my pleasure”.

Extra School Supplies?

Office Max and Office Depot have been having 1 cent deals the last several weeks and I’ve found myself with a bunch of crayons, rulers and notebooks. Do you also have some extra school supplies you would like to donate?  The Chick-Fil-A at 59 and Kirby is hosting Operation School Supplies for the DePelchin Center.

I think clearing out some clutter and eating Chick-Fil-A sounds like a great idea. You might also want to check out their kid’s event schedule HERE.
