Our Review: We stumbled upon Bangkok Chef on Friday evening after the Downtown Christmas Tree lighting. It is just one block off of Main Street and the METRORail, at the corner of Travis and Walker. You can take the train or, after 6:00 on weekdays, there is free curbside parking.

The restaurant is big, clean, and casual enough for kids. There are large TVs for watching the game, or like on Friday night, for watching kid movies. We sat right in the middle of the restaurant, but you could sit around the corner, out of the way, if you were worried about your kids acting crazy.  (We would probably do this at lunch time.)

In the evening, the restaurant is not too busy. Prime time is weekdays from 11:30 – 1:30 when they are packed with the office crowd.

Bangkok Chef’s menu has a lot of items to choose from. There 3 options for $6 kid meals: chicken with sweet & sour sauce, chicken wing with french fries, sweet corn cake with plum sauce. Instead of this, my kids decided to share the Chicken Lomein for $10. I got the Massaman Chicken Curry for $10.

The food arrived very quickly (and was really good) and the staff was very nice. They made a big deal over the kids, which always rates high with me. The serving sizes were very generous but my kids ate all the Lomein, argued over who got the last of the vegitables, and then ate part of my food. Next time we go (and we do plan to go back), we’re going to have to order two noddle dishes for the kids.

Unless of course we go back when James is eating solids. Then we’ll need to order three noodle dishes!
