Make plans for another great week and weekend in Houston!

All weekend long, go to Miller Outdoor Theatre for Dancin’ in the Street… Motown & More Revue!

On Saturday, take the family to Hands On Houston: Copper Wire Jewelry. This is one of our favorite Houston events and this week you can make a free bracelets and necklaces from copper wire. Just stop by the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft between 11:00am and 3:00pm.

Also on Saturday, participate in a brand new program at Discovery Green! Kids can Learn a Language each week at 11:30am. Go back in the evening for Screen on the Green: The Princess and the Frog at 8:15pm.

On Tuesday, go to Toddler Tuesday: Celebrating Heroes at Discovery Green.  Enjoy story time and take photos with some of the vehicles driven by our soldiers!

Top 7 Things to Do this Week & Weekend, in Houston, with Kids – August 31-September 6, 2015

Each week, I provide a list of things to do in Houston with kids.  The full event lists are for Thursday through Wednesday and can always be found HERE.  (Scroll through to find the dates you are looking for!)

So you can look forward to the events Houston has going on this week (posted prior to the full list going live), here are the favorites for Monday through Sunday, August 31 – September 6, 2015.

  1.  On Tuesday, join BigKidSmallCity for the return of Toddler Tuesdays!  Each week at 10:30am there is a free storytime and character visit.  This season the plan is to introduce the kids to the movers and shakers, heroes and hotshots in our city by discovering people who make our neighborhoods nicer just by living and working here.  This week, the story is Love Your Neighbor.  Remember to bring your old books to swap for new ones each week!
  2. On Tuesday evening, celebrate Blue Bell’s return with a giant ice cream social at 3 Gallery Furniture locations.  The event is free, you just need to reserve a spot!
  3. On Wednesday, take the little ones to Mommy Mingle at the Children’s Museum.  In the Tot Spot, for kids under 35 months, mingle with other parents while you enjoy coffee and breakfast.
  4. On Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, head to Miller Outdoor Theatre for the Dancin’ in the Street… Motown & More Revue.

Things to do in Houston today, and this weekend, with kids!  August 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, September 1, 2, 2015

Back to school, back to the routine and back to some of our favorite events.

The annual Theater District Open House is this weekend!  On Sunday, visit the Downtown Theater District for live performances, to meet performers and to go backstage for free!

Take the family to Bats on the Bayou at Watonga Park at the Watonga Bridge on Friday.  Learn about bats from the experts, enjoy bat-themed activities and watch the bats emerge at dusk.

You can also go to Miller Outdoor Theatre for the Chubby Checker & The Wildcats and Handel’s Fireworks Music (with Fireworks!).  Get your free tickets earlier in the day for covered seating, or arrive any time to sit on the hill.

All weekend long, you can take your kids to meet the new Maryellen doll at the American Girl Store.  Thursday through Sunday, during the hours listed below, kids will get a free gift, participate in a 1950’s themed craft and take photos at the “diner”!

Top 5 Things to Do this Week & Weekend, in Houston, with Kids – August 24-30, 2015

So you can look forward to the events Houston has going on this week (posted prior to the full list going live), here are the favorites for Monday through Sunday, August 24-30, 2015.

  1. On Tuesday, visit the last Two-for-Tuesday at the Downtown Aquarium.  Print the coupon for buy one get one free admission to the exhibits, stingrays and all the rides.  (In September, this will switch to Super Saturdays for half price admission!)
  2. On Tuesday, take the little ones to the Family Storybook Circle at the Museum of Fine Arts.
