Plan on another great week and weekend with the kids in Houston!

On Friday, cool off at the Houston Zoo.  Participate in a drum circle and learn to play bongos and shakers.  You can also meet the keepers at the gorillas, red river hogs, mandrills and the shoebill stork and feed the giraffes!

Be sure to see Fancy Nancy: The Musical on Saturday.  This family friendly musical is set to close after 3 more performances.

Since it’s the first Saturday of the month, head to Hands-On Houston at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft.  Just stop by from 11:00-3:00pm to make bottle cap pendants.  This event is always free, just know that it is so popular it is now held in the craft garden (and could be changed due to weather).

Also on Saturday, join the free Hit-A-Thon in The Woodlands for the Lymphatic Education & Research Network.  Each participant can hit 25 pitches, thrown by collegiate players, plus there will be food, drinks and games.

Shadow Monsters Museum of Fine Arts Houston2
Plan on another great week and weekend with the kids!

On Thursday, visit many of Houston’s museums for free.  This includes the Museum of Fine Arts, and the awesome Shadow Monsters and Summer Art Explorer event.

On Friday, cool off at the Houston Zoo’s Cool Night.  This week the theme is sports… and includes a Zoovie Night.  Bring a blanket and watch “Sandlot”!

On Saturday, learn about Fire & Ice at Discovery Green!  Mad Science will be the Discovery Green Library with experiments, indoor firework show and a bubbling potion.  Also on Saturday, take the family to the Hike It Baby hike at Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary!

Don’t miss out on Fancy Nancy: The Musical at Main Street Theater.  This show is put on by professional actors and meant for families… so giggling and wiggling in the audience is expected at this hour long production.  If you have been wanting to going this summer… get tickets to one of the six final shows!t

Finally, if you have young kids and have ever wished you knew what “school ready” meant, take the family to Edu Park Play & Learn.  Play and mingle at Colonial Park while you ask educators (and other parents of young kids) the questions you can’t answer!
