Things to do in Houston today, and this Memorial Day weekend, with kids!  May 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 2015

Plan on a great week and weekend in Houston, with kids!

See the new gorilla habitat at the Houston Zoo.  Members can see it now and everyone can see it starting this Friday!

On Saturday, the Houston Pools open for the season!  These are free to visit and often have swim lessons and classes as well.  Check the hours HERE.  Houston also has free THESE splashpads that are open all year long.

Enjoy the free Young Writers Workshop at Discovery Green on Saturday or enjoy a garden story at Mandell Park.

On Tuesday, head to Discovery Green for the final Toddler Tuesday of the season with Cinderella and Prince Charming!  This free weekly event is at 10:30am and includes a storytime and character visit.  BigKidSmallCity will be at the park and be sure to come introduce yourself!

Things to do in Houston today, and this weekend, with kids!  May 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 2015

Plan on another great weekend in Houston with kids!

Kick off summer reading, on Saturday, with the Books Alive! 6th Annual Children’s Book Celebration at the Central Library and the Summer Reading Kickoff Party at Brazos Bookstore.  At the library party, meet author Jon Scieszka, do hands-on Mad Science and craft activities, get a picture in the PhotoMoto photo booth, enjoy food from food trucks and more!

On Saturday and Sunday, celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage at AsiaFest at the Asia Society of Texas.  Enjoy tai chi, storytelling, Taiwanese calligraphy, Persian tile designs, henna and more!

On Friday or Saturday, take the family for a hike with HikeIt Baby at the Houston Arboretum.

If you are a Houston Zoo member, you get a chance to preview the new Gorilla Exhibit!  Starting Saturday, you can see the results of years of preparation.

On Sunday, head to the Texas Children’s Art Festival at Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens!  Enjoy art making workshops, play games and wonder through the gardens!

Top 7 Things to Do this Week & Weekend, in Houston, with Kids – May 11-17, 2015

Each week, I provide a list of things to do in Houston with kids.  The full event lists are for Thursday through Wednesday and can always be found HERE.  (Scroll through to find the dates you are looking for!)

So you can look forward to the events Houston has going on this week, here are the favorites for Monday through Sunday, May 11-17, 2015!

1.  On Tuesday, head to Discovery Green for Toddler Tuesday with Spongebob.  This free weekly event is at 10:30am and includes a storytime, character visit and foam party!  BigKidSmallCity will be at the park and be sure to say “hi”!

2.  On Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, take the family for a hike with HikeIt Baby!

Things to do in Houston today, and this Mother’s Day weekend, with kids!  May 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 2015

Plan on a great Mother’s Day Weekend!  Make no mess at home by getting out into Houston.

Have a hip, but kid friendly, meal at MKT BAR on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  On Sunday, enjoy brunch plus live music!

On Friday, enjoy a children’s show at Miller Outdoor Theatre and or talk a walk after dark at Nature Discovery Center!

On Saturday, head to Discovery Green for the Young Writers Workshop or to release thousands of Ladybugs at Mandell Park.  On Saturday and Sunday, celebrate Mother’s Day at Bayou Bend.  On Sunday you can also take a Mother’s Day Tours of Rienzi.

Wrap up the weekend with Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing at Main Street Theater!

Top 9 Things to Do this Week & Weekend, in Houston, with Kids – May 4-10, 2015

Each week, I provide a list of things to do in Houston with kids.  The full event lists are for Thursday through Wednesday and can always be found HERE.  (Scroll through to find the dates you are looking for!)

So you can look forward to the events Houston has going on this week, here are the favorites for Monday through Sunday, May 3-10, 2015!

1.  On Monday, watch Our Feet Can Tell a Story: An African-American Cultural Celebration at Miller Outdoor Theatre.  On Wednesday through Friday, watch The Pastry Prince!  The show is free… arrive early to sit under the roof… or come anytime to sit on the hill!

2.  On Tuesday, join BigKidSmallCity at Discovery Green for Toddler Tuesday:Handy Manny Sinko de Mayo!  This event is free and includes a storytime, character visit and activity… parking is tight, so come early and find a metered spot on the street or park in the garage under the park.  The entrance is on the George R. Brown side.

 3.  On Wednesday, take your little ones (under 3 years old) to Mommy Mingle at the Children’s Museum of Houston.  In the Tot Spot, enjoy free coffee and light breakfast with other Houston parents… free with admission.

4.  On Friday, take a walk after dark at Nature Discovery Center!

5.  On Friday, Saturday or Sunday, enjoy a hip, and kid friendly, meal at MKT BAR.  On Sunday, enjoy brunch plus live music!

6.  On Saturday, head to Discovery Green for the Young Writers Workshop.  

7.  On Saturday, help release thousands of ladybugs at Mandell Park, learn about nature’s pesticide, and take a few home to your garden!

8.  On Saturday and Sunday, celebrate Mother’s Day at Bayou Bend.  On Sunday you can also take a Mother’s Day Tours of Rienzi.
