Things to do in Houston today, and this Valentine’s Day weekend, with kids! February 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 2016

This weekend you can take your littlest Valentines to eat at MKT BAR for Heart Pizzas or celebrate at 10 other spots around Houston.  Find the list of Valentine’s Day activities HERE!

This weekend you can also see Cirque du Soleil’s TORUK (check affiliate Goldstar for discount tickets) and Sound of Music.

To celebrate the year of the monkey, head to the Texas Lunar New Year Festival at City Hall on Saturday and Lunar New Year Houston at Viet Hoa Center on Saturday and Sunday.  (Find more Lunar New Year Festivals HERE!)

Finally, if the kids want to play while the parents catch a show, check out Main Street Theater Parent’s Night Out .  Kids ages 4-9 can eat dinner and play theater games while parents watch Love and Information.

So you can look forward to the events Houston has going on this week (posted prior to the full list going live), here are the favorites for Monday through Sunday, February 8-14, 2016.

1.  Wednesday through Sunday, treat your little Valentines to Heart Pizzas and Make-Your-Own-Cookies at Phoenicia’s MKT BAR.  This kids meal is only $5!

2.  Thursday through Sunday, watch Cirque du Soleil’s TORUK at Toyota Center!  (Check affiliate Goldstar for discount tickets.)

7.  Main Street Theater Parent’s Night Out – This one is for parents and kids… but not exactly together.  Parents can see a show while kids, ages 4-9, can eat pizza, play theater games, arts and crafts.  (Parents of kids enrolled in PPD have the option of purchasing tickets to the current MainStage production at a 50% discount!)  On Saturday, February 13, 2016 the theme is Mardi Gras Madness! Make plans to start February off right!

On Saturday, attend our favorite Hands On Houston at the Craft Museum.  This month you can make Clever Clothespin Toys.  The event is free and for all ages, just stop in and make a craft while supplies last.

On Saturday, Mardi Gras head to Mandell Park to join the parade down the neighborhood street!  There will be beads, musics… and some masks to share!

Also on Saturday, take your young readers to the Bookworm Book Festival at Spring Oaks Middle School.  The event will feature 6 popular and award-winning authors and illustrators of books for young people, including Mac Barnett, Doreen Cronin, Jennifer Sattler, Stephen Savage, Emma Virjan and Salina Yoon.

For more books… but on stage, go to Main Street Theater to see Magic Tree House: A Night in New Orleans on Saturday and Bridge to Terabithia on Sunday.
