Books for Kids to Read – Seasons by Blexbolex – BigKidSmallCity Book Reviews

This is Felicia! My girls and I love exploring Houston and we love to read.

This review is of Seasons by Blexbolex

This is easily on my home library essential list. It is perhaps one of the most beautiful children’s books that I have seen in a long time. I checked it out of the library, 3 years ago, went home, opened the book… and then walked to my computer and purchased it.

As the title describes, this book is about seasons but it is not quite a story. Instead it has delightfully thoughtful, retro prints on each page of the objects, activities, and experiences that surround Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall.

Each picture has words or phrases printed above each thoughtful picture. This is a great tool for learning larger sight words and making connections between vocabulary choices. “Butterfly” and “cocoon” sit pictured opposite each other as well as “love” and “stubborn” and “swim” and “sunburn”.

Some of the relationships are more recognizable than others and that leaves this book open for the ages of toddler to adult. Each time my kiddos and I sit down to read this book, we have conversations about the stunning art, the word choice, and how they relate to each other. I even think that this book would also work well for any ESL student!

Stroll into Brazos to pick up their very last copy or order HERE at Amazon.
