Things to do in Houston today and this weekend, with kids! June 27, 28, 29, 30, July 1, 2, 3, 4, 2013

Houston is gearing up for the 4th of July!  This events listing includes Thursday, June 27 to Thursday, July 4!

Cool off by catching Alice in Wonderland all week at Main Street Theater.  Be sure to also tour the air conditioned museums during free admission hours on Thursday.  The Houston Zoo also wants to keep you cool by staying open late on Fridays all summer.  See the animals until 8:30pm during Cool Nights.  On Saturday you can stay cool at the Brazos Bookstore Storytime or Discovery Green’s Young Writer’s Workshop.

If you want to get some fresh air, visit the Urban Harvest Farmer’s Market on Saturday or Sunday.  Or head to Blessington Farm for blackberry picking and the Farm Fun Land.  Discovery Green also has Kayaking on Kinder Lake, concerts and more.

On July 3, meet BigKidSmallCity at the Houston Fire Museum!  We will meet at 10:00am to let the kids play and the parents socialize.  We’ll be giving away some Houston Fire Department gear as well!

To celebrate the 4th of July, go to the Star Spangled Salute or buy a ticket to Freedom Over Texas.  Or find a high point, like the  University of St. Thomas parking garage to see displays from all over the city.

Look for the complete list of events below. Be sure to also check out this list of free Houston activities for any day of the week!
