Mayor’s Holiday Celebration and Tree Lighting – November 30, 2012, 6:00pm – Location and Parking Information

The Mayor’s Holiday Celebration and Tree Lighting is on Friday, November 30, 2012 at 6:00pm.  A 63-foot White Fir Holiday Tree will light up the streets of downtown Houston this holiday season.

Bring an unwrapped toy to donate to the Salvation Army.  Get a free light up Santa hat from Reliant and get a photo with Santa.

Paid public parking is available in the Theater District.  If you arrive right at 6:00pm, street parking is free in Downtown Houston.  Or, if you take METRORail to Main Street Square, City Hall is an easy 5 block walk from the station.

The kids and I go each year to the big tree lighting ceremony.  It is very crowded, so we like to go to City Hall, grab our light up hat and then walk around Downtown Houston and grab dinner.

If you are going to drive, I suggest coming into downtown to the east of City Hall (closer to Discovery Green).  Park near the METRORail tracks right at 6:00pm (for free) and walk to City Hall.  This will avoid the high parking costs and the traffic jams.

City Hall is located at 901 Bagby Street, Houston, TX.
